[origin: WO2006102977A1] The invention relates to a method and to a device for controlling the braking system of an all-wheel drive motor vehicle which comprises at least one coupling unit which can be controlled by means of an electronic control unit and which is used to activate and deactivate an all-wheel drive. According to the invention, at least one wheel is uncoupled from the drive by a corresponding control of the coupling unit. Also, after stopping the motor vehicle on an inclined roadway, a predetermined braking pressure is maintained or generated on at least one wheel of the motor vehicle according to or independently from the amount of pedal brake and is maintained until the brake pressure is reduced (brake pressure maintaining time). During said brake pressure maintaining time, the brake pressure is and/or remains at least partially reduced on at least the wheel which, in order to detect slip, is coupled to or will be coupled to the drive by the corresponding control of the coupling unit, wherein at least one other wheel remains impinged upon by brake pressure.
