[origin: WO2006097462A2] The present invention relates, generally, to methods and compositions for detecting or treating inflammatory CNS disorders, such as multiple sclerosis. The present invention more particularly discloses the identification of human genes which can be used for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of multiple sclerosis and related disorders, as well as for the screening of therapeutically active drugs. The invention further discloses specific polymorphisms or alleles of the AUTS2, PARK2, PSEN1 and/or KCNIP4 gene that are related to multiple sclerosis, as well as diagnostic tools and kits based on these markers. The invention can be used in the diagnosis of or predisposition to, detection, prevention and/or treatment of mult iple sclerosis and related disorders.
