Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2006101405A2] A system for utilization of renewable energy resources and/or recovery of energy, comprising a multifunctional unit, which includes a water heater (1), and a heat pump (2). The heat pump is adapted to transfer heat and/or provide cooling to water in the water heater (1). The unit (1) comprises at least two thermally insulated tanks (3, 4) for thermal storage of hot water and/or cold water and/or ice. The tanks are also insulated from one another. The first tank (3) is in heat exchange with a superheat circuit in the heat pump for heating water in the tank (3) to a first and high temperature level. The second tank (4) is in heat exchange with a second circuit in the heat pump which is adapted to heat water in the second tank (4) to a second temperature level, which is lower than the first temperature level, or to cool down or freeze water in the second tank (4).
