Abstract (en)

An elevator apparatus is equipped with a generator for generating a power corresponding to a speed of a car, and an emergency stop device for forcibly braking the car. The emergency stop device is operated owing to the power generated by the generator when the speed of the car is abnormal. The car is mounted with the emergency stop device.
