Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1870499A2] One belt (6) runs over the fleece or other fibrous composite (2) fed in, making contact with it. A further intake belt (4), runs in the same direction under the fleece (2). These belts work together, feeding the fleece and exerting pressure against it. The top belt (6) precedes the first deflection point (5) and rests on the fleece right up to it (5). The cover belt (6) is permeable to air from the fleece, which passes through it (6). The cover belt is driven at a different velocity from the inlet belt, such that the fleece is stretched or compressed. Pressure components are provided at the first deflection point. These extract air from the fleece against which they rest, causing mechanical pressure to be exerted upon them. They are air-permeable pressure rollers (8). They are formed by the cover belt itself, which is led around part of the circumference at the first deflection point. There may be several other belt (6) deflections with returns back to the first deflection point. The cover belt includes air channels and/or is constructed as a sieve belt.
