[origin: EP1872866A2] The system (50) has a process controller, and three storage modules (2a-2c) arranged in parallel connection with one another. The storage modules are operated at an introduction function, departure function and hold status, respectively. An address information is added to mail items (P1) for the mail items placed in a storage area (4c) of the storage module (2c) operated in the hold status, where the information is added using the process controller.
