[origin: WO2006116088A1] The present invention provides a system and method for estimating a characteristic of a formation fluid, including terminal purity, in real time. The system provides for taking a plurality of measurements of a parameter of the extracted formation fluid over time and fitting a non-asymptotic curve to the measurements to estimate the characteristics of the formation fluid.
