Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1881090A1] Electrolyte composition (I), for the separation of a zinc-nickel-alloy layer containing 10-18 wt.% of nickel on a substrate, comprises zinc ions, nickel ions, amino acetic acid and an acetate of sodium, potassium and/or ammonium, where the molar ratio of acetate to amino acetic acid is 0.35:0.91. An independent claim is included for separating the zinc-nickel-alloy layer on a substrate, preferably cast iron- or a steel substrate comprising contacting the substrate with a stream of (I).
