[origin: EP1881573A2] The ignition device (10) has an electrical insulating element, which is arranged centric in a spark plug body (1). A central electrode (2) is arranged centric in the insulating element and protrudes from the foot tip of the insulating element. A measuring electrode pair (4) is arranged in a hight adjusting way at another measuring electrode pair with relative to a tip (21) of the central electrode and each measuring electrode pair forms an equal electrode distance together with the central electrode. An independent claim is also included for a method for positioning of an ground electrode in an ignition device.
