[origin: WO2006097643A1] The invention concerns an installation (1) for handling nonwoven fabrics (2), comprising a main conveyor (8) equipped with at least one perforated conveyor belt (9) having opposite upper side (22) and lower side (23); means (10, 12) for driving said conveyor belt (9) along a longitudinal direction (L); an air extraction device (34) comprising: a caisson (35) including a lower wall (36) bored with holes (42) perpendicular to the perforations (24) in the conveyor belt (9), said caisson (35) defining longitudinally a number of compartments (35a-35e) separated by an oblique partition (46); a blower (44) connected to each compartment (35a-35e) to generate therein an ascending air stream through the lower wall (36); means (53) for activating or deactivating the air extraction independently in each compartment (35a-35e).
