The pencil type glow plug (110) comprises a heating element (112) and a glow plug housing (114) as well as a glow plug axis (124). The glow plug housing (114) includes a zone (116) for receiving the heating element (112), a housing body (120) and at least one flexibility zone (118) arranged between the housing body (120) and the receiving zone (116). At least one force-measuring element (136) is arranged in the glow plug housing (114).
