Abstract (en)

[origin: DE102005024433A1] A process involving continuously extruding filaments (2) from a solution containing water, cellulose and a tertiary amine oxide, followed by stretching, leading through an air-gap (4) and a precipitation bath (3a) and then cutting to give staple fibers (15) is such that during the cutting the filaments (2) still contain the tertiary amine oxide. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for cutting lyocell spun filaments, the apparatus being such that during the cutting operation there is no washing stage for rinsing-out of the tertiary amine oxide between the precipitation stage with a bath containing a non-solvent for a lyocell spinning solution and the continuously-operating cutting mill (9).
