[origin: EP1884490A2] The mechanism for winding strips (1) of material has two endless belts (2a, 2b) which contact the edges (1a, 1b) of the strip as it is wound on to a spool. A hydraulic, pneumatic or electrically driven system (5) moves both belts sideways with respect to the strip so that it is diverted to a different section of the spool.
