Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1884635A2] The device (10) has a blower (20) that is arranged adjacent to a cooler (14), where air is movable through the cooler with the blower. The blower, an internal combustion engine (12) and the cooler are arranged in an engine compartment. A generator (18) e.g. alternator, is driven by the combustion engine to generate electrical energy. An electrical machine (26) is driven with the electrical energy that is produced by the generator, where the blower is mechanically driven with the electrical machine. The machine includes an output shaft (28), over which the blower is mechanically driven. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a drive device.
