Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1884969A2] The switch (1) has two sets of contact points (2, 3) comprising fixed contacts (4, 5) and movable contacts (6, 7), and permanent magnets (13, 14) arranged adjacent to the respective points for generation of permanently magnetized blowing fields. Coils (17, 18) are arranged adjacent to the contact points to generate electromagnetic blowing fields and to blow electric arcs (15, 16) in an extinguishing device (24) existing during opening of the points. The movable contacts are arranged on a contact bridge (8). The magnets assigned to the respective points are polarized in opposite directions.
