Said optic fibre (2) is suitable for altering the main emission direction (17) of the electromagnetic radiation (6) and the optic fibre (2) has a one-piece embodiment. Light diodes are preferably used as light source (1). The illumination device is particularly suitable for the backlighting of displays.
