[origin: WO2006131205A1] Disclosed is an interior door handle (1) for a motor vehicle, which is disposed approximately in a horizontal direction on the inside of a lateral vehicle door (2) and is joined to the vehicle door or a lining part (3) located on the vehicle door (2) in the front region and/or rear region thereof. Said interior door handle (1) comprises a central handle region (4) in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. Said central handle region (4) is to be embraced by a hand. The interior door handle (1) is arranged at a certain vertical distance above an armrest (6) located on the inside of the vehicle door (2). The central handle region (4) extends across at least one fourth of the length of the vehicle door (2) in the vertical position of the handle region (4).
