Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006131332A1] The invention relates to an electric drive system (10) for a vehicle comprising differential steering. Said system comprises two similar drive units (20, 22), an electric energy source (13, 15, 16, 18), an electronic control unit (36) and a left and right summarising gear, which are configured as planetary gears. One drive unit drives the ring gear (48) of the left summarising gear, whilst the other drive unit drives the ring gear (56) of the right summarising gear. The ring gear (48) of the left summarising gear has a direct drive connection with the sun gear (54) of the right summarising gear by means of a mechanical gear train, whilst the ring gear (56) of the right summarising gear has a direct drive connection with the sun gear (46) of the left summarising gear by means of a second mechanical gear train. According to the invention, a left sun gear shaft (60) runs through a left hollow shaft (58) towards the centre of the vehicle and a right sun gear shaft (64) runs through a right hollow shaft (62) towards the centre of the vehicle.
