[origin: WO2006131190A1] The invention relates to a method for producing thermally expandable shaped bodies based on thermoplastic homo- and/or copolymers and expanding agents, in which the shape-maintaining cross-linking of the binding agent base ensues without chemical cross-linking agents by means beta or gamma radiation. In a subsequent step, the pre-shaped shaped bodies are expanded by heating to temperatures ranging from 90 °C to 250 <SUP>°</SUP>C without collapsing occurring during the expansion of the shaped body.
