Abstract (en)

The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a metal container (1), the metal container (1) comprising a metal body part (2), a metal bottom part (3) and optionally a top part, wherein the method comprises the steps of - providing a metal body part (2) with a closed circumferential wall (6), - providing a metal bottom part (3) with a flanged edge (5), the outside of the flanged edge (5) corresponding to the inner side of the body part (2) at the location where the bottom part (3) is to be connected to the body part (2), - placing the bottom part (3) within the body part (2) at said location, and - folding the outer end (7) of the body part (2) that extends beyond the flanged edge (5) of the bottom part (3) inward against the inside of the flanged edge (5) of the bottom part (3). Furthermore, sealing means are provided to ensure a liquid- and airtight seal between body part and bottom part, which sealing means are comprised in a coating applied on the bottom part and which are activated by means of a heating treatment. A metal container (1) manufactured by the method of the invention is also disclosed.
