[origin: DE102005004586A1] Preparation of highly-substituted starch phosphate comprising removing starch in a mixture of phosphatization agent that is free of dissolved urea, and water by pre-treatment, removing water from the obtained mixture and subsequently thermally converting to starch phosphate, is new. An independent claim is also included for a starch phosphate with a substitution degree at phosphate group of 0.01-2.0 and a carbamate concentration of less than or equal to 0.1.
