[origin: WO2006133919A1] Disclosed is an electrical connector for a motor vehicle, comprising two joinable connector parts, the first one of which is connected to the second one via catching elements after joining the two connector parts together, and locking means for securing the connection between the first connector part and the second connector part. Said locking means are monolithically molded onto a joining element which can occupy at least two locking positions relative to the first connector part, the locking means releasing the catching elements in the first catching position while securing the catching elements in the second catching position when the connector parts are joined together. The joining element is permanently connected to the first connector part and is unmovably retained in the first catching position with the aid of mechanical means as long as the same is not joined to the second connector part.
