Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006134067A2] Disclosed is a device for guiding and/or deflecting and/or pressing and/or reeling and/or refining a processing material during the production of paper (27), paperboard, or cardboard or during a treatment modifying the properties thereof. Said device comprises a roll (12) that enters in contact with the processing material. The inventive device is equipped with a roll (12) that is embodied as a first electrode (12a) while a second electrode (12b) is arranged such that the electrodes (12,12b) are placed on opposite sides of the processing material, whereby a plasma can be generated in the processing material or in the immediate vicinity thereof. The treatment of the processing material or the paper (27) with plasma makes it possible to improve the tensile strength and the quality features of the paper (27).
