The tool has a carrier plate to be moved for machining operation in rotary motion. A cutting edge (20) is formed at the carrier plate, and has cutting segments (30) arranged at the carrier plate. The cutting segments are made of a carbide base and a polycrystalline diamond layer, and have the form of cylinder segments. The segments are arranged at the carrier plate in such a manner that a working edge operating in a rotational direction is formed through two edges of the segments, where the edges limit the polycrystalline diamond layer and meet in a segment angle.

Werkzeug zum Schneiden von Natur- und Kunststein, umfassend einen für einen Bearbeitungsvorgang in eine Drehbewegung zu versetzenden Träger, wobei am Träger eine Schneidkante (20) ausgebildet ist, welche eine Mehrzahl von am Träger angeordneten Schneidsegmenten (30) umfasst, welche aus einem aufgesinterten Hartmetall-Trägermaterial und einer Schicht aus polykristallinem Diamant bestehen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Schneidsegmente (30) im Wesentlichen die Form eines Zylindersegments haben und dass die Schneidsegmente (30) derart am Träger (10) angeordnet sind, dass eine in Drehrichtung vorne befindliche Arbeitskante gebildet wird durch zwei sich in einem Segmentwinkel treffende, gerade, die Schicht aus polykristallinem Diamant begrenzenden Kanten des Schneidsegments. Mit dieser Ausbildung und Anordnung der Schneidsegmente (30) wird ein sehr effizientes Schneiden von Natur- und Kunststein ermöglicht. Mit dem Werkzeug ist eine hohe Arbeitsgeschwindigkeit erzielbar. Es ist - in der jeweils entsprechenden Grösse - sowohl für Handgeräte (wie Trennschneider, Flex), für stationäre Geräte (wie stationäre Betonschneider, Tischsägen), als auch für mobile Standgeräte (wie z. B. Wandsägen) geeignet. Aufgrund des robusten Aufbaus und der Härte der Arbeitskante ist das Werkzeug sehr standfest.
