[origin: EP1894882A2] The method involves determining loss events for motion vectors of cranes, and activating a warning function, when given motion vectors lead to the loss events, where the loss events include an overload of the cranes. The motion vectors used for driving the cranes is limited to the motion vectors, which lead to loss events with none of the cranes. The overload is determined over load moment zones assigned to the respective cranes. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a safety system for operating a set of cranes (2) a control system for lifting and/or transporting a common load with a set of cranes (3) a control method for lifting and/or transporting a common load with a set of cranes.
