[origin: DE202006013306U1] The block has a mantel structural unit (2), which is based on burned clay and includes a set of high holes and an internal hollow space (6). An inner tube unit (8) is provided sectionally in the space and has a temperature-resistant material e.g. ceramic. A holding unit (10) holds the inner tube unit in the mantel structural unit, where the remaining space between the inner tube unit and a wall (6`) of the hollow space is free. The source material of the structural unit has an organic fiber material in a proportion of 1.0 to 6.0 mass percentages. An independent claim is also included for a blank for a mantel structural unit of a fireplace building block.
