Abstract (en)

[origin: CA2612730A1] The invention relates to a vacuum bulb for an electrical protection apparatu s, such as a switch or a circuit breaker. The inventive bulb comprises at least three screens (8, 9, 10) including a mid-potential screen (9) which is mount ed between the two contacts (1, 2) and a partial screen (8, 10) which is dispos ed between the mid-potential screen (9) and one of the contacts (1, 2), the distance between the mid-potential screen (9) and the contacts (1, 2) being selected such that the electric field at the edge of the contact (1, 2) move s from the contact (1, 2) towards the surrounding partial screen (8, 10) (or vice versa from the partial screen towards the contact, as a function of the polarity of the voltage).
