[origin: EP1897979A2] Device for consolidating a multilayer fibrous web comprises two motor-driven conveyor belts that move a carriage in one of two directions to lengthen the travel path of the web when the entry speed is greater than the exit speed and to shorten the travel path of the web when the entry speed is less than the exit speed. Independent claims are also included for: (1) system for continuous production of a multilayer fibrous web, comprising an upstream device for delivering an unconsolidated multilayer fibrous web to a consolidating device as above, where the exit speed of the upstream device is equal to the entry speed of the consolidating device; (2) producing a multilayer fibrous web using a system as above.
