Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1903132A2] For electro-chemical polishing of cobalt and cobalt alloy surfaces, an electrolyte is used containing glycolic acid and at least one alkane sulfonic acid with an alkyl residue containing 1-3 carbon atoms. The alkane sulfonic acid includes methane sulfonic acid. The electro-chemical polishing is at a temperature of 40-70[deg] C with an anode current density of 5-25 A/dm 2>.
