[origin: WO2007009478A1] Measuring device for the media-independent measuring of a flow rate of a medium (138), which may also be a multi-component or heterogeneous medium, a signal generating unit (130) generating a transmitted signal (42) on the basis of a reference signal (152A) of a signal generator (152) and transmitting it via the flowing medium (138) by means of a stimulator (132). The signal is received by a sensor (134) and passed on to an evaluation unit (136), which is designed to determine a signal transmission time on the basis of a number of points respectively corresponding to one another of a signal profile of the received signal (44) and of the signal profile corresponding to the reference signal (152A) and to determine the flow rate of the medium (138) on the basis of the signal transmission time and the given distance between the stimulator (132) and the sensor (134).
