Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2007010025A1] The invention relates to an electric insulator (1) comprising a tube (3) surrounded by an insulating smooth or provided with fins (7) jacket (5). The insulating jacket is made of an epoxy resin comprising 25-75 % by weight mineral filler. The inventive method for producing said electric insulator consists in placing the insulator tube or the precursor thereof in the electric insulator mould possibly provided with fins, in introducing an unhardened cycloaliphatic epoxy resin into the mould in such a way that the insulator jacket and fins are formed around said tube or the precursor thereof, in hardening the resin introduced into the mould in such way that the insulator is produced and in removing the thus produced insulator from the mould. The inventive electric insulator is suitable for high voltage application.
