Abstract (en)
The present invention relates a method of diagnosing lupus erythematosus or related autoimmune diseases in a human, said method comprising at least one of detecting a genetic variant, a mutation or polymorphism in the gene encoding for TREX1, detecting a change in the biochemical activity of TREX1, and detecting a change in the expression of the gene encoding for TREX1. The present invention further relates to the use of TREX1 for therapy and as a target for new therapeutical approaches.
