The oven door has a plate (7) and arranged before a closely adjacent front disc (1). Die Backofentür besitzt einen durch eine äußere Scheibe (1) und eine innere Scheibe (4) begrenzten Tür-Hohlraum (5), in welchem Hohlraum (5) sich zumindest im oberen thermisch stark beanspruchten Türbereich eine Platte (7) mit einseitig reflektierender Oberfläche befindet. Diese Platte (7) ist eng benachbart vor der frontseitigen Scheibe (1) angeordnet, begrenzt einen zumindest nach oben offen Strömungskanal/Hohlraum (10). Die Platte (7) besteht aus einem Wärme, insbesondere querleitend in der Scheibenebene, gut leitendem Material vorzugsweise aus Aluminium.
