[origin: WO2007012525A1] The invention provides a device of a modular construction for loading substrates (155) with objects (150), in particular for loading component carriers with electronic components. The loading device (100) comprises a chassis (110), a stationary first linear guide (111), which is attached to the chassis (110), a guiding carriage (120), which is displaceably mounted on the stationary linear guide (111), a positioning arm (130), which is fastened to the guiding carriage (120) and to which a second linear guide (131) is attached, and a loading head (140), which is displaceably mounted on the second linear guide (131). According to the invention, the positioning arm (130) is formed together with the loading head (140) as an autonomous functional unit which can be calibrated outside the chassis (110). The autonomous functional unit represents an independent loading robot which can be releasably coupled to a basic module of the loading device (100) by means of a defined interface (S, S'). Along with other components of the loading device (100), the basic module has at least the chassis (110) and the stationary linear guide (111). The possibility of external calibration allows the loading robot to be quickly exchanged, the loading operation only having to be interrupted for a short time. Consequently, various loading robots can be provided for different loading applications.
