[origin: EP1911713A1] System for determining the position of a lift cabin (1) comprises a belt (2) suspending the cabin and provided on one side (2.1) with a tooth arrangement which meshes in a form-fit manner with a gear wheel (3A) of a detector determining the position of the belt. An independent claim is also included for a process for determining the position of a lift cabin from the position of the gear wheel. Preferred Features: The detector is arranged on the lift cabin. The gear wheel is coupled to a shaft encoder that emits a position signal corresponding to the absolute or relative position.
