Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1914295A1] Lubricating cylinder (I) having a base number (BN) determined according to American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) standard D-2896 of >= 40 mg of potash per gram of lubricant, comprises a lubricating basic oil (Ia) for marine engine and a overbased detergent containing alkaline or alkaline earth metals and a compound (Ib) comprising primary, secondary or tertiary alkyl monoalcohols having >= 12 carbon atoms, at 0.01-10 wt.% of the lubricant. Independent claims are included for: (1) preparation of the lubricating cylinder by adding (Ib) and optionally functional additives or by dilution of a concentrate of additive for marine lubricant i.e. incorporated with (Ib); (2) concentrated additives for (I), comprising (Ib) at 0.05-20 wt.%, preferably 0.5-15 wt.% of the total weight of concentrated additives; and (3) concentrated additives for (I), comprising (Ib) at 15-80 wt.% of the total weight of concentrated additives.
