[origin: WO2007022872A1] A buckle (10) for safety belts is disclosed, comprising a housing (12), an opening (14), for introduction of the tongue of the belt (16), locking means (18), for locking the belt tongue (16), release means (20), for undoing the belt tongue (16) from the lock and with sensor means (24), for electrically detecting whether the belt tongue (16) is locked. The sensor means (24) comprise a circuit arrangement (26) operated by the belt tongue (16). The circuit arrangement (26) has an electrically-conducting click disc (70) which may be displaced between a first and a second switch position and a mechanical operating device (27), which transmits the force (40) acting on the belt tongue (16) on introduction of the belt tongue (16) to the click disc (70) in order to displace the click disc (70) from the first into the second switch position, whereupon an electrical contact (64, 66) is opened or closed.
