[origin: WO2007023106A2] The invention relates to a method for diagnosing technical systems comprising several system components. In order to reduce the volume of diagnostic data to be transmitted, central system diagnostics, i.e. a diagnostic oracle, are provided. Said diagnostic oracle controls the type and the amount of diagnostic data to be transmitted to the diagnostic oracle by the system components in accordance with previously transmitted diagnostic data and rules filed in the diagnostic oracle.
