Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2007025529A1] A two-piece piston (1) is disclosed for an internal combustion engine, comprising an upper piece (2) and a lower piece (3), the lower piece (3) having an upper base part (25) with an opening (27) lying coaxial to the piston axis (12) into which a pin (31) formed on the upper piece (2) is inserted and by means of which the upper piece (2) is connected to the lower piece (3) with a hexagonal nut (29) screwed onto the pin (31). A resilient sleeve (26) is arranged between the upper piece and the lower piece comprising an inwardly directed collar (28) on the side thereof facing the piston crown against which the upper face (23) of the hexagonal nut (29) lies and in the region thereof facing away from the piston crown, a contact surface (19) facing the piston crown lying on a surface (21) on the inner side of the opening (27). An economically produced two-piece piston results with a resilient sleeve between both screwed piston pieces which exerts a pre-tensioning on the screw connection and thus provides security for said screw connection.
