[origin: EP1921004A2] The submarine has a monitoring and controlling device for monitoring and controlling automated submarine functions e.g. ballast distribution. The monitoring and controlling device has multiple processor units (14) and display and operating units (18) i.e. touch-screen displays (26), that are connected over a data bus i.e. optical data bus, in a signal-transferring manner, where the data bus exhibits a ring structure. The processor units are conductively-connected with a drive battery of the submarine. The processor units are arranged in an enclosed housing.
