Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006134250A2] The invention concerns an orthosis comprising a compressive leg part extending upwards from the ankle. The structure of the row of stitches provides for a homogeneous distribution of elastic return forces over the circumference of the orthosis along an outline corresponding to a horizontal cross-section of the limb. The stitch structure and the dimensioning of the leg part are selected so as to apply, over a region (R) included between the ankle and the knee, a therapeutic pressure once the orthosis is pulled on the limb. The average pressure Pc exerted on the central third (RC) of said compression region is higher than both the average pressure Pb exerted on the distal third (RD) and than the pressure Pd exerted on the proximal third (RP) of that same region. Pc, Pb and Pd being the pressures exerted at heights of respective points c, b and d of the Hohenstein model.
