[origin: EP1923344A2] The device has a cutting unit for cutting samples (11) from a ribbon-shaped print substrate. A longitudinal folding unit is arranged adjacent to the cutting unit, and is provided with parallely arranged longitudinal folding devices. A splitting device (10) is provided upstream of the folding unit for supplying the samples and/or accumulative samples selectively and/or alternately to one of the folding devices. A marking device (20) e.g. blade, is assigned to the splitting device, and marks the samples and/or accumulative samples based on the supplied samples and/or accumulative samples.
