The fuel injector (1) has an injector housing (6) with a pressure space (15), from which highly pressurized fuel is injected into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, with the help of control valve device (12). The control valve device has a control valve anchor (44). A pressure maintaining valve device (52) is provided between the anchor space (30) and return line (40).

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Kraftstoffinjektor mit einem Injektorgehäuse (6), das einen Druckraum (15) umfasst, aus dem mit Hilfe einer Steuerventileinrichtung (12) mit Hochdruck beaufschlagter Kraftstoff in einen Brennraum einer Brennkraftmaschine eingespritzt wird, wobei die Steuerventileinrichtung (12;82) einen Steuerventilanker (44) umfasst, der in einem Ankerraum (30) angeordnet ist, der mit einem Rücklauf (40) in Verbindung steht, der mit Niederdruck beaufschlagt ist. Um das Schaltverhalten der Steuerventileinrichtung zu verbessern, ist zwischen dem Ankerraum (30) und dem Rücklauf (40) eine Druckhalteventileinrichtung (52) vorgesehen.
