Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006065210A1] This invention concerns a procedure and a necessary accompanying device for the infusion of a liquid solution into growing trays (1) that hold embryos, seeds, cuttings or plants as well as a cultivation substrate and which the device is integrated with a cultivation system (3) that automatically transports the growing trays. A distinguishing feature of the invention is that the growing trays are temporarily lifted from the cultivation system's growing shelf (2) with the aid of a lifting mechanism (4), and which the lifting mechanism includes a sensor that ascertains the growing tray's weight and thereby the need of liquid replenishment for the substrate and plants. After determining the need of moisture, the growing tray is lowered into a basin filled with a liquid solution. This liquid solution may only be comprised of water, but it may even contain growth-enhancing nutrients. In some cases, the liquid may even contain biocides. Another distinguishing feature of the invention is that the infusion of liquid solution occurs automatically.
