[origin: EP1926113A1] The unit (1) has a rubber profile with a switching chamber that is provided for receiving a force-actuatable safety strip (8) and a run-on bar (2). The bar is connected with the switching chamber. A light cross-section of the switching chamber is changed by a leverage effect of flanges (3.1, 3.2), bars and a projection which are connected with the chamber in its size. A wall (9) of the chamber is formed in an area of its force-transmitting connection than a wall (12) in the area of the flanges, bars and projection attached to the chamber. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a switching unit.
