Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1767506A1] Water-redispersible powder for reducing efflorescence in hydraulic binder systems comprises an organic compound (I) with a (partially) saturated cyclic group having a melting point of -20 to 250[deg]C and a molecular weight of 100-10000, and a water-soluble organic polymeric protective colloid (II) that forms a stable dispersion in water. The (I):(II) weight ratio is 95:5 to 5:95. Independent claims are also included for: (1) process (P1) for producing a powder as above by dispersing (I) and (II) in water and drying the dispersion; (2) process (P2) as above in which the drying step is omitted; (3) use of an aqueous dispersion produced by P2 for reducing efflorescence in hydraulic binder systems, where the dispersion comprises 5-95 parts by weight of rosin or abietic, sylvic, neoabietic, levopimaric, pimaric, isopimaric or palustric acid and 5-95 parts by weight of polyvinyl alcohol or polyvinylpyrrolidone and 0-50 parts by weight of a silane or siloxane component and has a solids content of 10-70 wt.%, an average particle size of 0.05-50 mu m and a Brookfield viscosity of 100-50000 mPas at 23[deg]C and 20 rpm.
