[origin: EP1930281A1] Lift structure comprises a cabin and a braking device containing a brake lining (12) interacting with a braking surface (11) which has a wedge groove or elevation for the brake lining. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Guiding rail for the lift structure; (2) Braking device for the lift structure; and (3) Method for guiding, holding and braking the lift structure. Preferred Features: The brake lining is arranged in the regions of the cabin and the braking surface is integrated in the guiding rail. The guiding rail has a guiding region for interacting with a guiding device and a braking region formed as a braking surface for interacting with the braking device.
