[origin: US2008078626A1] In an elevator system that has an elevator hoistway, a plurality of hoistway doors arranged above each other each with at least one horizontally moveable hoistway door panel, and an elevator car with a car door that has at least one horizontally movable car door panel, fastened to the car door panel is a vertically extending barrier rail.
