Abstract (en)

[origin: FR2891656A1] The method involves incorporating a fire-retardant agent in a coating of a power or data transmitting cable using a supercritical fluid e.g. carbon dioxide. The incorporation is performed after manufacturing the coating, and the agent is chosen among metal hydroxide, metal hydroxyl-carbonate, silica, phylosilicate, zinc hydroxystannate, zinc stannate, phosphorous derivatives and boron compounds. The fluid is maintained at a supercritical state for a preset time for obtaining the incorporation. The fluid is eliminated, and the cable with fireproof coating is retrieved. An independent claim is also included for a power and data transmitting cable comprising a fire-proof coating.
