[origin: EP1936109A1] A first gearbox (10) is connected to a first drive unit (11) to turn the inner rod. A second gearbox (20) is longitudinally offset from the first, along the longitudinal direction of the drilling rod. This (20) is connected to at least one second drive unit (21), to turn the outer tube. In novel design, the second drive unit is spaced away from the second gear box (20) and the second drive unit is arranged near the first drive unit on the first gear box. An independent claim IS INCLUDED FOR the corresponding drilling method.
